On Monday, November 5, I will travel to Romania with five extremely gifted young people who are ready to experience God do some incredible things. This will be the seventh time I have gone out of the country for the purpose of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have also been blessed to share in many intentional efforts to share the Gospel across North America.

Through the years I have had people ask me this question: “Why go out of the country when there are so many people here in America who need to be saved?” I probably had some of the same thoughts years ago. Then, when I was asked to be a part of a team going to Brazil back in 1990, I found out why it is important to be a participant in one of these powerful, life-changing trips.

Here are some reasons why we should go to other countries:

• We have a Command from Christ — The foundation of Christianity is GOING! When the early church primarily gathered in Jerusalem, God used intense persecution to scatter the Believers through the civilized world. Jesus told us to GO. Since He did not specify how far to go, I guess we should play it safe and go wherever we have the opportunity.
• It will Change your life — I grew up in a conventional Baptist church. All my life I was told about Missionaries, gave money to help Missionaries, saw slides of Missionaries, etc. but I never understood what Missionaries do until I got on the big bird and went to another country for Mission work. It changed my LIFE forever!!! I have never been the same since! Each time I go on a trip I come back renewed, revived, and ready to spread the Gospel with everyone I can!
• It will Change your Church — It has been awesome to watch how people’s lives are different when they return from a short-term mission trip. The “Team Report” is always a special time for the church people who have prayed and given money to help the team go. They sit in anticipation as each team member shares some of their experiences. Without exception, I always have people who tell me after one of these services that they want to go on the next trip.
• The People who get saved really appreciate your efforts — I have been on trips where a few were saved and on others where several hundred were saved. No matter how many (1 is enough) salvations we witness, these people will never forget their experience. This will be my third trip in two years to the same part of Romania. It is thrilling to return and talk with the ones who were saved on the previous trip.

I have a desire to take the Gospel from across the street in my neighborhood to around the world! I will go wherever and whenever the Lord tells me. If you are interested in future trips to Romania email me at cbridgeswabc@bellsouth.net and I will let you know the details on our plans for future.
