A Memorable Day
One of the highlights for me of all mission trips is the time when we get to share with our church family here in the U.S. God always does some amazing things in these “sharing” times. Today was not only another time of sharing about what God “DID” while we were in Romania, it was also a time when He “DID” some amazing things right here in Greenville, SC.
I was delighted to return home and hear about the salvations of people here while we were in Romania. As Ricky Motes (our Student Pastor/Staff Evangelist) shared about one young man who was so disturbed by the conviction of God’s Spirit that he had to leave school. When he told his Mom what was going on she called Ricky who then met with this young man and assisted him in making Jesus the Lord of his life. This young man was scheduled to be baptized at the beginning of our worship service this morning. During our Bible study time before the worship service, this young man’s sister came to Ricky expressing the same concerns about her spiritual condition. She accepted Christ and was baptized along with her brother! This was an incredible way to start our service.
As I stood to officially “start” our planned activities, God impressed on my heart to extend an invitation. With no music playing and with all eyes open, three adults walked to the front to say that they needed Jesus to save them! WOW!
We really enjoyed our sharing time and I believe God brought a sense of excitement to the hearts of our people. I think we were all able to see how taking the time and spending the money to share the Gospel with people in another land can spark a renewal of our mission right here in our own country. At the close of the service another young lady came forward to say she had known for some time that she was lacking assurance of her salvation. Today, she changed that concern!!!
We believe God has some great things for us to do in some of the remote villages of Central Romania. Check our website in the future for information on Romanian missions. (www.wabclife.org) But, while we are committed to go overseas to share the Gospel, we also commit to be more fervent in sharing the Gospel right here in our home town. I can’t wait to see what God will do next!
