Yesterday was once again a day to remember. We had two inspiring times of powerful praise and worship, both beginning with baptism. It was a joy and pleasure for our people to see these new believers following through on their commitments to Christ. Many of them have already been through a “First Steps” process to help them better understand what it means to be a fully devoted follower of Christ. We will continue to invest time with them so that they will continue bringing their friends and families to the Lord. More young people will be baptized this Wednesday night at 7:00 in the Worship Center!

After sharing God’s Word concerning what He expects from us in the area of our finances, another young man came forward and asked one of our Pastors to help him receive Christ as his Savior. Then, on Sunday evening I was reading the response cards that were turned in and saw where a young man had checked on his card that he had accepted Christ at Washington Avenue that day! It is incredible to watch God saving people when we are talking about financial/stewardship stuff.

Reminders about Generosity:

• Our motive for teaching these Truths from God’s Word is to show everyone what God wants FOR you, not what He wants FROM you! (and also what our church wants FOR you, not FROM you!)
• Stop telling God about your financial woes and start telling your “situation” about your God and His ability to provide everything we need — both in the ‘here-and-now’ and in eternity!
• Watch out for the subtle GREED-TRAPS the enemy sets for us each day.
• The best way to “Guard Against Greed” is to give away something we care about.
• Jesus says: “Where your treasure is there is where your heart will be.” (Matt.6:21) Whatever we invest money in, that is where our thoughts and feelings will be.

Trust me, you do not want to miss these next 4 weeks!! Next Sunday, my good friend Clayton King will be with us to share God’s Word. Clayton is one of the most anointed preachers in America right now. Through anointed preaching, God is using this young man to help thousands every year make the decision to become followers of Jesus Christ. I know you will be blessed by the message God tells His servant to bring next week. Invite your friends and family members to be here next week.

The last Sunday in April is going to be one unusual occasion! We are going to do something that I have never attempted before. I believe God is going to release incredible power on that Sunday. When you hear what we are doing, you won’t believe it! (Don’t even ask. You won’t know until April 27 at 9:00 and 10:30).

The first Sunday in May is going to be an Historical Occasion in the life and future ministries of Washington Avenue Church! Again, this would not be a good Sunday to slip away for the weekend. If you are planning to be away, make sure you get to a computer and watch the service live at 10:30 (EST).

Mother’s Day weekend is going to be “off the charts” in excitement. I can already sense a mighty outpouring of God’s power and presence in what we are planning. It is going to be so cool you won’t believe it! Some special Moms who really have some needs are going to be blessed in a very real way that weekend. For all you Washington Avenuers, be watching for opportunities to help with this powerful weekend of outreach, as we truly EXTEND the LOVE of Christ!
