What a Journey
There are some highlights in our lives that stand out above the rest. You know the special times like our personal salvation, finding our true love, and having children (I pray that God will allow me to experience the joy of having grandchildren one day). I have also had the exhilaration of witnessing both of my children leading someone else to Christ. That’s kind of like being a spiritual grandfather.
Tonight I had one of those “highlight” moments as I sat on the front row listening to Dalton Jones preach God’s Word with passion, conviction, and God’s anointing. You see, Dalton is 17 years old and just recently publicly declared God’s CALL on his life to be a Preacher. It is a special moment for me because I have known Dalton since he was 4 years old. I had the joy of leading his Dad to the Lord and baptizing him. I also watched Dalton live his life in total rebellion against God and how defiant he was towards his parents two years ago when they forced him go on our Journey II. Since Dalton surrendered his life to Christ in Beaufort, SC he has been faithful to attend worship, share his faith, pray for and with his peers, and grow in his knowledge of the Lord. I give all the glory to God for Dalton’s progression towards his “GROOVE” in this life! But, I have to be honest, I also feel very proud that God has allowed me to personally witness his transformation.
Dalton delivered the Word tonight and God moved in incredible ways. You know it is God when the time for response lasts longer than the singing and preaching combined. Young people getting right with their God never gets old. Some guys stepped up tonight and confessed some serious stuff in their lives. We laid hands on a couple of these guys and claim God’s victory over their sources of destruction. Jesus said, “Didn’t I tell you that, if you believed you would see the glory of God?” (right after he said this he raised Lazarus from the dead — John 11:40) My faith has been stretched tonight by some radical teenagers who have what it takes to change their world!
Tomorrow we do it again. I believe we are getting into some of the “end of camp” decisions so early because God has some incredible things yet to reveal. Some destinies will be significantly altered this week. To the skeptical person who might think this is all about “camp emotions” I really don’t have any time or desire to convince you that it is different. It is this kind of response to God’s movements that have caused so many Believers to miss out on something great.
To those who are ready to be a part of a “Spiritual Revolution” Believe with us that something’s about to happen. Ricky made a statement on Monday night that is very profound. After I preached he told our “Campers” that I was not preaching to the Youth Group of Washington Avenue Church: I was preaching to THE Church that meets at a place called Washington Avenue! We are going to build God’s Kingdom with those who are ready to GO with GOD — abandon our inhibitions and limitations — and SEE THE GLORY OF GOD!!!
So, Do you want to GO with us? Come on, get on board, believe God with us and change the world!

I knew that this weekend was going to be blessed…I hate that I am not able to be there but I know that God is working in our youth’s lives. I am excited to talk to the boys and hear all about it. In the mean time thanks for the blog updates they help make me feel like I am there.
