Charting the Journey

Our schedule was a little different yesterday. The church facilities we are using at nights were occupied by their ministries last night so we did our scavenger hunt at Broadway at the Beach. It was a fun evening but it seemed like something was definitely missing. The worship gatherings the first two nights were so anointed that it just seemed to me like something was missing last night.

While we had a lot of FUN, it made me wonder just what this term FUN really means. No one likes to “cut up” and act foolish, laughing and joking around, more than me. But, it is interesting to notice what FUN things we talk about and miss when they are not a part of our conscious reality. I think some of our young people (and maybe adults) are learning that there’s really nothing more FUN than worshiping God in such a way that He shows Off in specific ways!! Now that’s what I call FUN!!!!!

The mission work yesterday proves this point. Our kids went out into the HOT (did I mention it was hot?) SUN and played basketball, kickball, football, rode skateboards, applied nail polish, blew bubbles, and played “Duck, duck, goose.” To the average observer it just looked like a bunch of kids playing in a park. But, for anyone who has “extra sensory” perception, (or the eyes of Jesus) you would see the Master’s Love being shown in the most natural setting.

I have to brag on our Students. They have done a great job loving on the kids, playing hard in the hot sun, and have done it with the best attitudes. One of our teenagers yesterday brought a young boy to me and said he wanted to talk about being saved. I asked her later if he brought up the subject and she said, “No, I asked him if he believed in Jesus and he got real serious and started talking.” Isn’t that wonderful? Just to see a young person stepping out of her comfort zone to share about Christ makes this preacher’s heart GLAD!

Pray for the group today as they go back out to the mission field. We challenged our guys this morning in their small group time to ask God for the opportunity to tell one of these children about God’s love and salvation. I am looking forward to our gathering tonight. Pray for God to bring us to a level we have never been before. I am asking Him to move in such a way that Ministry projects will be born in the hearts of these youth that they can implement when they get back home.
