Special Day

Today was a special day in worship at Washington Avenue. As a parent, nothing is more rewarding than seeing your children receive Christ as Savior and then show the evidence of His presence in their lives. Then, to see them step it up and serve the Lord makes it even more rewarding. Experiencing worship this morning with my daughter Ashley using her gifts to serve God was absolutely amazing!

Then, the way God moved in both of our worship services was spectaculor! People’s lives were changed as God encountered them with His Word and opened the way for them to come to Him. In our second worship service a young man came forward and surrendered his life to Christ. This was an AMAZING conclusion to a fantastic day. He has attended Sunday services and youth on Wednesday nights for about 2 months. When he stepped up to me he said with confidence: “I want to be saved!” What a thrill this is to hear.

Whether there is ONE or TEN or FIFTY or any other number, when salvations happen, heaven has a party! We got to join that party today! I pray that God will help this young man as he begins a new direction in his life! It’s time to celebrate.

I wrote a quick post this morning because I really felt like something special was going to happen today. We had about the same numbers in attendance but it just seemed like God was speaking to everyone in the room. What a joy it was to experience this kind of moving by God’s Spirit. And, I cooked some carrots and eggs on the stage. SAY WHAT? Yep, I boiled some eggs and carrots in the same water while I was preaching. The illustration is simple: the eggs and carrots were in the same “hot water” (i.e. circumstances); one was hardened by the experience and the other was softened. God knows exactly what we need and exactly when we need it! I hope you will stay in the pot until God has completed His work in you.

Dreams really do come true! Go ahead, DREAM ON! I DARE YOU!!!
