Too Good Not to Share
Our “Connecting Points” (small group discipleship in people’s homes) continues to be a source of excitement and encouragement for me. Many of our groups report weekly how God is moving and drawing people closer to Himself and to fellow group members.
One of our groups is led by Matt and Crystal Crocker and Corey and Carrie Smith. This group targets young, college-age singles. The group has had as many as 16 but I think they usually average less. This past Sunday night they had something fantastic happen.
After their group meeting they went to Applebee’s for some food and fellowship. After the meal, some of them were standing in the parking lot talking. Among that group was a young man who has been attending our church and this group for a couple of weeks. Actually, one of our families invited this young man and his family to come to our Fall Festival a few Wednesdays ago. He came, was ENGAGED by some of our Cross Culture group and invited to their Connecting Point. He started coming to the meetings and really liked it.
As the group stood around in the Applebee’s parking lot about 11:00pm (still early for this age group), the Holy Spirit was working on this young man’s heart and in the lives of our dedicated college-age students. They talked with this young man and right there in the parking lot HE GAVE HIS HEART TO JESUS! And, get this, our adult leaders were not there (they go to bed at “normal” hours). These were our young people doing what God has told us all to do — “JUST WALK ACROSS A ROOM” (or hang out in a parking lot) and you may have the privilege of helping someone become a Christ-Follower!
Let me say publicly how proud I am of this group of Young People! I pray that their enthusiasm for leading their friends to Jesus will multiply and SPARK a REVIVAL in the other Believers who worship at Washington Avenue!!! Also, let me welcome this young man into our great big FAMILY!!
KEEP ON WALKING WASHINGTON AVENUE!
