“Kairos”
Allow me the liberty to utilize a little of my formal education. Since the Bible was written in a language that 99% of us do not understand, it is helpful in many instances to know the meaning of some words. Basically the Scriptures have two different words for “Time:” One is “Chronos” which means chronilogical and refers to “measured time.” Our clocks help us keep up with “Chronos” (but it is a ’slippery’ thing). This Saturday, March 7 is the season when the USA changes our “Chronos.” Remember it is “SPRING FORWARD!” (Yep, we lose that hour of sleep this week)
Another word is used in the Bible when referring to “time” and it is the term “Kairos.” This term simply means “Timing” and is used when referring to WHEN God does something. It is important to understand the essential details of God’s Redemptive work on behalf of this world. But, it is even more intriguing and inspiring when we stop to think about His “PERFECT TIMING” in getting things done!!! In Ecclesiastes 3:1 Solomon wrote: “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven.” Also in Ephesians Paul writes: “And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment–to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.” (1:9-10)
I believe we are being prepared for a time of critical and specialized ministry. This is God’s “KAIROS” for those who really want to make a difference in the eternal status of others. God’s people need to have a “MISSIONAL” perspective on the “TIMES” in which we are living. “MISSIONAL” is the new terminology being used by effective leaders to define how we do ministry in these uncertain “Last Days.” It is God’s “KAIROS” for the church to throw off the chains of religious ritual that bind us and escape ineffective activity. Many churches are busy but are not effectively building the Kingdom of God!
Embrace your “KAIROS” through submission to Christ’s plan for you. The Kingdom needs MISSIONAL Missionaries in every culture, beginning right where we are living today. The world desperately needs Missional Believers around them. While they might not realize it, we could be their God-given representative to change their forever!! Instead of perceiving your “Today” according to the sum of your commitments and responsibilities, try looking through the lens of God’s Perfect Timing and BE AMAZED at the things HE can and will do through us! It is no accident where you are right now in life; nor is it ‘chance’ that you are going through certain things. God is in your “right now” because He needs these precious moments to reach every0ne He can. THAT’S EXCITING!! With that in mind we could even thank God for a root canal or cancer!
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. ” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

If I were reading this post on Facebook, I’d give it the “thumbs up.” Meaning, very simply, I like it.
