As I sit here on Saturday morning watching the beautiful rain coming down from God, a wonderful, quiet spirit of worship fills my soul. I was thinking back over the past few weeks about the way God has “RAINED” His Spirit and Power down on my life. I also believe He has done similar things in the lives or many people who worship and serve at Washington Avenue. While our attendance numbers have not been significantly increasing, there is a definite change in “spiritual temperature” in our gatherings — for the better.

God is working in this ever darkening world of ours. I read Clayton King’s blog the other day and WORSHIPED God over the way He is using this dynamic brother to reach the “numbers.” He has seen thousands (yes thousands) saved in the past several weeks. In one meeting in Tennesee, 2,000 people stood at the end of the message to receive Jesus Christ as Savior!!! Take a minute and let that sink in!! Talk about a DOWNPOUR! God reminded me this morning how blessed I am to be “CALLED” to preach His Word and to serve among some of the greatest people I have ever met. Our church is truly blessed with some wonderful people. I count it an honor to be called the PASTOR of Washington Avenue Church! I believe God is preparing us for a Kingdom Harvest. God is in the business of reaching out to people who are far from Him (i.e. people we don’t want our children being around or imitating). As long as His church joins God in this endeavor we are sure to be blessed!

Let’s remember to keep the Main Thing the Main Thing — IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS! And I really believe we are going to experience something God-Sized — life changing, exciting, real. Tomorrow we are going to hear from two of the most committed young people I have ever met. Zach and Noelle Slagel have surrendered their lives to God’s call and will be going out to some nation of the world to invest their lives in reaching people groups who have not yet heard about Jesus’ Salvation and Love! Trust me, you don’t want to miss tomorrow’s services at Washington Avenue. I can already sense that the Holy Spirit is going to do something incredible in our midst. Man, I can’t wait for tomorrow to get here! (Isn’t that the way we should feel each week about gathering in our churches?)
